Home made bone broth
This bone broth recipe for dogs is DIRECT from our Ultimate Recipe Book
Bone broth is a great supplementary food that supports the health of the gut by supplying the amino acid glutamine, which is a preferred food source for the mucosal lining of the digestive tract.
This can be especially helpful if your dog is prone to digestive upset, or if they’re recovering from a course of medication.
It’s also delicious and the high gelatine content may offer support for aching or aging joints.
Recipe
1. Combine a dozen chicken or duck feet, neck bones (turkey necks are good) to mostly fill the bowl of a slow cooker, 1⁄2 cup apple cider vinegar, water to just cover.
2. Optional: carrot, celery, herbs.
3. Simmer on low for at least 24 hours, drain and portion into jars or ice cube trays.
High gelatine bone broth will set like jelly; if yours stays liquid, next time try more bones or less water (or both).
